April 23 will be, once again, a good chance to celebrate UNESCO World Book Day and copyright day by exchanging #booksandroses all over the world!
La Diada de Sant Jordi (Saint George festival in Catalan) is a unique cultural event, which was born in Catalonia, but last year was celebrated in 114 places around the world, in a total of 85 cities and 36 countries, with very diverse organizers, from Catalan communities abroad to delegations of the Catalan government, small independent booksellers, Catalan lecturers, offices of Tourism of Catalonia, ACCIÓ (Catalan Trade and Investment) offices or private associations of all kinds. From Sydney to Vancouver, from Helsinki to Sao Paulo, love and literature find in #BooksAndRoses an event that is already global.
Do you organize an event around April 23 with #BooksAndRoses somewhere outside of Catalonia? Do you know about any place where there is going to be one? Get in contact with us through the contact form and tell us about the details, we will help you to spread the word.
If you need materials either to explain what the tradition is about or to congratulate someone, we have a large choice in many languages in the “downloads” area of this website. Surely there is one that can be practical for you!
We encourage you to join the party wherever you are in the world, share your photos with the hashtag #BooksAndRoses on social media and spread the word that April 23 is already approaching. Get in the #booksandroses mood!
